No I actually don’t know if the week of 09/18/2022 is the biggest but it is for me because I don’t follow Twitch. In fact, the news and drama coming from that platform has become so big, it has spilled into my knowledge even though I usually avoid it. I avoid it because there’s so much content that I would never be ‘caught up’. I don’t need to pay that close of attention? But you’re wrong. If I wanted to pay a minute amount, I would want to pay all of it.
I am lucky thought that I know of people. Over the last few years, I have learned about the big players and of their little circles. You see, Twitch, if you don’t know, is a gaming website where people log on and record themselves losing yet another Mario 64 speedrun to a live audience who could reply with Pepe the frog memes. The website started in 2011 but despite what you might think, it never really became a rival to YouTube. In that period, YouTube was supreme, there weren’t even any mock competitors. Overtime though, because streaming was so easy on Twitch, who ever had a Youtube gaming channel also decided to do Twitch streams. So even then, there was no need for rivalry. Since then, Twitch streamers have also expanded into doing more than video gaming. You can find board games (largely chess), painters, musicians, whisperers (ASMR), vloggers (most of Just Chatting can be described as vlogging), reactors (like Hasan Piker), and teasers. Now I think it was around 2018 but that was when that last group started getting real viable in the ‘twitch meta”. Teasers are people who, since they can’t be nude on twitch, wear tight clothing and try to show off as much as their body as possible. Plenty of the teasers also had Onlyfans so they were basically trying to advertise that. In fact, by 2021, if you had twitch, it was always in tandem with either your Youtube, tiktok, or Instagram. You are not just going to have just twitch. Also discord comes with the package of twitch, because if you get big you must have a central square for your fandom.
So despite the various cross-platforming and genres of streaming, the circles of influencers would be comprised mostly of location. Most influencers in general move to Los Angeles while the second large group stay in their hometown. In 2020, OTK was founded in Austin, Texas thus making that another breeding ground for twitch streaming. One True King (OTK) is just one company though, a coalition of several entertainers such as Mizkif, Asmongold, and Esfand to name just three. It would specifically be the cause of Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo for interchange as he seems the one to handled the team’s collaborations with outsiders and even recruit new members. Then of course, there’s the SMPs found on Minecraft that become a breeding ground for groups such as Lunch Club and Dream’s party. Since most if not all big streamers were lonely adults, they would be regularly available to pop in, crosssover, and raid each other.
Then there was by boy Charlie White, aka “Moistcritikal”, who lived in Florida. Years ago, he was my main source of news of anything happening on Twitch as he was active there along with the 21 Pilots (some who are not active rn).
“Destiny” Steven Kenneth Bonnell II- currently liberal political previously pioneer of full time streaming
“Ninja” Richard Blevins – biggest Fortnite streamer with he colored hair and biggest rage
“Myth” Ali Kabbani- rival to Ninja in Fortnite streaming along with Valorant
“xQc” Felix Lengyel- how the fuck is he Canadian
“Pokimane” Imane Anys- Moroccan with the ‘kawaii desu’ personality but grown woman aesthetic.
“Young Turk” Hasan Piker- grown man who invites hot women to his bedroom to rant about politics
“Dream” Clay- the faceless American leading Minecraft speed running
“Amouranth” Kaitlyn Siragusa- THE main teaser who in fact started the Simp Epidemic of 2020
“Tommyinnit” Thomas Simons- based Britbonger
Ludwig “the Mogul” Ahgren- the king who streamed for 30 days straight
“QT” Cinderella- the queen who organizes several events such as Shit Camp 2021 and the Streamy Awards
“Mizkif” Matthew Rinaudo- what good comes out of New Jersey
“Sodapoppin” Thomas Morris- co owner of OTK and spotlight for the Among Us craze of 2020
Maya “the Falcon” Elaine Higa- a bird girl who runs the Alveus Sanctuary in Austin, Texas
Sykkuno– just an overall chill guy
Alexandra and Andrea Botez– the killer sisters of Chess
“Jawsh” Josh Allen- the easiest complainer and leader of Team Awesome
“Big Guy” Jay Schlatt– New Yorker who lives in Texas and hates California. Nothing controversial I’m sure
Justa “Goblin” Minx– Irish who lives in Texas and has literally died before. Most likely has no controversy with above.
“Moistcritcal” Charles White “Penguinz0” – based Floridian
Now these people are not the biggest but quite literally the only big streamers I can recognize because of their histories. They are the biggest in their circles as well, I feel. That’s why I don’t name Ted or Wilbur Soot despite Schlatt and Tommy being here. But QT is here alongside Ludwig because she is exceptional enough without him. So these are the people I consider main characters and the only ones I have the capacity to keep track of. Now we will dive into the last few weeks of twitch drama. All the information I give to you comes from the perspective of Charlie and Ludwig from their videos on penguniz0 and mogul mail respectively.
