Dreaming of a Career

Clay aka “Dream” is a 24 year old Leo, potentially of Florida, Minecrafting Youtuber with a power level of 44 million and waning reputation. Nothing is known about Dream before his reign as one of the Princes of Minecraft but he began his career in 2019. 2019 was a strange transition year in many perspectives. For Minecraft, it was a time of revival. The game had been the most popular since it started in 2011 up to around 2015. It would spawn the careers of many Millennial Youtubers at the same time CoD did for a different crowd. But it would seem, from me growing up, the game lost its high popularity to the new game of the year in the subsequent years. CS:GO, PubG, Fortnite, Overwatch, and Valorent until finally a return to Minecraft’s relevance due to a big update around 2019. (Of course, the game had still been Top 3 the entire decade, it just didn’t feel like it). At that time, Dream would’ve been 19-20 years as he started to make challenge videos about the game. His first arc featured things like speed running challenges and weird unique challenges to add extra edge to the game. He was an instant hit with YouTube naming him the tope breakout creator of 2020. During Covid was the SMP arc for him which is when he would be a household name among American children/gamers. Dream SMP would be a private (invite only) Minecraft server where he invited many other Youtubers to roleplay and act silly with. The point of the server was to have a loose storyline despite specific actions being improv, which to me sounds like the perfected form of the Mianite Server during Minecraft‘s first golden age. So out of the people invited, eventually factions formed between them and the storyline grew more and more complex so it won’t be discussed here.

If anything, here is a list of notable people in Dream SMP: GeorgeNotFound and Sapnap (who count as founders), Tommyinnit (Britbonger), Tubbo, Wilbur Soot, “Altrive” Dash (who has worked with ancient Minecrafter Captain Sparklez), JSchlatt (villain since 1999), Jack Manifold, Quackity, Technoblade, ConnorEatsPants (proof?), and Charlie Slimecicle. Other cameos include Ninja (Fortnite), Pokimane (yapper), Andrea Botez (Chess), KSI (AfroBritbonger), MrBeast (trillionare), and Lil Nas X (****** ******). So just from the ones I mentioned, you can see this as a coalition of zoomers participating in the second wind from Minecraft.

The series would be highly popular blah blah blah and eventually end in April this year after they killed the Ender Dragon. In that time though, Covid also shifted the interests of Dream. Starting in 2021, his unrivaled fame would force him to get doxxed and get into controversies with speedrunning Minecraft illegally. He would also shift to a music career with his second song “Mask” becoming his most infamous due to its message. See, Dream had done all this streaming and Yotubing without showing his face. If he ever had to, he was wearing this dumb mask instead. And this anonymity gave a mysterious and attractive air to his middle school fanbase even though many youtubers don’t do a face reveal until years after starting out (especially if they are teenaged). But he’s much bigger than expected so he wrote a whole song about how important the mask was. Now he would be made fun of for it.

Then next year, he decided to DO a face reveal live on Youtube. It was an exciting two weeks between the announcement and the actual event. People prepared memes for if Dream was hot or ugly although some were far more prepared to hate. There I was waiting for the video to load and then the most normal face appeared behind the mask. His jawline though would receive the most ire from haters while those 13 year olds swooned for him. “Put the mask back on” would be echoed. He didn’t really take the bullying as lightly as he should of despite being 23. Whatever, he would eventually move on.

Throughout this year, he did more public content such as a tour for his 4 songs, and some other collabs. Sure. But one thing I have not noted is his personality. He has a bit of a short temper from what I’ve seen. When attacked for his speedrun cheating scandal or his music, he can approach critiques more hotly than he should. That usually causes an great spiral of the controversy and an unnecessary loss of reputation if he simply reacted less dramatically. One of his first dramas was forcing the vote for that glow squid in the 2020 mob vote. When Geosquare caught him cheating in his speedrun, (with an entire dissertation of statistics to show how impossible it was for Dream) Dream fiercely and stubbornly defended his run for nearly six months because he didn’t want the stigma of cheating to be tied to him. But instead of making up numbers to prove himself and attacking the speedrun mods for bias, he could’ve just removed his submission from speedrun.com and then apologized or whatever. He would eventually admit to just cheating anyway after it caught on as a meme. Now he’s a cheater and a liar so he has not tried anymore speedruns. After the release of “Mask” dummies on twitter accused his video for it promoting the idea of throwing away ADHD meds. In one response, he said “they really be like: he visualized his personal experience as a kid with ADHD and medication for it?!? DISGUSTING 🎵drugs drugs🎵 AYO TURN THAT SH*T UP CHARLES”. The potential racial under tones of this tweet allowed dissenters to accuse Dream of racism and promoting the idea that all black music is sex and drugs and vice versa. Simply a poor choice of words. Now these are just noted examples of his bad diplomacy (an EU4 player would find him to be a “Bumbling Buffoon”) but it would seem during 2022 that he just could not tweet well. He always responded with some snide remark like Peter Parker with the venom suit and then would come the train of Dreamers (his fans) that bullied you to suicide. No one’s killed themselves but the growing surge of teenagers on Twitter since 2018 has been most evident in how many attack you when critiquing Dream. And he has no will to control them as he’ll join their childish parade of quote tweets and replies. Subject to his fanbase, he is also the worse motivator for them. These policies of his can’t be sustainable and perhaps they won’t be. If he continues though, he could only continue to dream about having a career rather than experiencing it.

Dream vs the Allegations Part 1: (this actually takes place in late 2022) Time to talk about a teenaged psychosis. A few weeks after his face reveal, two women would come out with allegations of grooming against Dream. Now it seems grooming has been recently destroyed as a term as of recently. It is supposed to be a subtle process making a younger person grow in affection and reliance of their older mentor. It’s usually with an authority figure although celebrities or any could commit the same. But Zoomers seem to use the term for any form of flirting between a major and a minor. This is flanderization to the point of almost nullifying the term but at least we are more aware of pedophilia. I guess. First was Anastasia who more casually revealed Dream flirted with her three years prior when she was 17. Dream rejected such claims as he felt the conversations were regular and she was 18 in her bio. Some screenshots were revealed which were uniquely cringie to both Dreamers and haters. Oh I should call the haters Nightmares. The second girl, Amanda, claimed something worse; that Dream sent her a dick pic and nut video. “He told me he had a chest full of sex toys” apparently when she was 17 and he was 22 so that would be just….earlier this year. According to another tweeter, she turned 17 in 2021 so he could’ve only sexted her between August and February in that year into the next (in Feb she would 18). But there isn’t much evidence from that period and spectators hated that there didn’t seem to be any evidence from either women. So a few things happened simultaneously. During the week, #DreamIsAFreak would trend on twitter. Dreamers would accused Amanda for lying about her age while others probably harassed her into locking into her account as she is now. Lastly, Dream would be leading battles against Nightmares calling him a groomer until he eventually made a twitlonger. There he pointed out that the instagram dms with Anastasia and Amanda (went unamed though) were potentially real but not any snapchat screenshots as he doesn’t use it that personally. He also mentions that his team has access to his accounts although I don’t think that’s the best policy (if they wanted to impersonate him). He also pointed out that Amanda had a boyfriend at the time, implying she shouldn’t have been mutually texting him either. The war was far from over. Amanda and Dream both announced that they would sue the other. A Dream grooming minors agenda would concrete itself among Nightmares so that anytime Dream replied to anyone on twitter, they called him a groomer. The agenda was so strong, I had a tilted belief that it was correct although I hadn’t looked into the story until now. 2023 would show a waning of Dream’s reputation purely due to agenda!

Dream vs Quackity: MEANWHILE, there was this drama, Quackity was a gaming Youtuber, at my exact age, who looooooves MMORGs such as Toontown. On his channel, he would host viking style raids of a few sites including Roblox, Club Penguin (potentially causing it to shut down), and Animal Jam (victoriously). He then founded the Dream SMP with several other Minecrafters including Dream. Dream SMP was a server between big creators for them to play around in while there was background lore and factions. It was not the first to do any of this but one of the biggest and it rejuvenated Minecraft’s popularity at the tail end of the decade. Dream was the main founder and is another Youtuber, famous for streaming in a mask until he decided to unmask himself last year. Now, DSMP would soon die and then Quackity decided to announce his own QSMP which would be bilingual or specifically Anglo-Hispanic. On April Fools, Dream announced his own multilingual server that would have a live translation system which is truly revolutionary. Everything’s fine now, especially as Quackity is simply tweeting more info about his server, but then! But then, Dream had to respond. According to him, the Dreamer fandom and Quacker fandoms were sharing tensions with the similarities between each server. Dream wanted to reach out to Quackity while I saw more memes about fake SMPs. Quackity never privately or publicly responded to Dream because…why should he? So Dream came out with one of the longest tweets in history, strongly receiving a “I ain’t reading all that” from chat, which just complained about how evasive Quackity was and warned that he had been targeted in real life. He shared that he wanted peace and collaboration and that the whole situation felt weird. Out of all people who did not read/respond to this, Quackity was first on the list. Continuing the list was the rest of the people in the replies. Well, if Dream was receiving real life threats, that sucks but I do think him responding to chat is the worst thing to do. It’s what celebrities are trained on not doing so they don’t get drawn into drama, in fact its what Selena did. Dream is showing his naivete in trying to possibly incite more drama with such a post. Now Dreamers have a genuine reason to hate Quackers when previously it was hardly even rumors. And to be honest, do two multilanguage servers need to have beef? It’s never that serious.

In-between the time, I will answer a question. No, there has been no progress on the Dream-Amanda lawsuits. I don’t know their real names so I can’t even look it up. I do predict though, if he wanted to keep quiet about the court case, we may never hear about it until someone else mentions his victory. If Amanda wins, she is bragging to everyone online.

Dream vs Gumball Waterson: The Amazing World of Gumball was a computer generated show on Cartoon Network that feautred a lot of bullshit plotlines. One of the voice actors for the titular character, Nicholas Cantu, decided to come out and join the groomer agenda against Dream. Cantu is also known as Junky Janker with a youtuber channel at 400k subscribers. I will transcribe the situation here. First, Dream made the weakest thirst post asking “who want me” and Cantu replied that he wanted him dead. Dream then screenshotted an image of a younger Cantu saying “blocked”. Using this picture to push agenda, Cantu replied, “bro when you’re an actual pedophile, you can’t joke about being a pedophile”. Dream would promptly be defeated but it was actually a parody account the whole time. The real Dream appeared and called out Cantu for being a terrible person along with rejecting pedophilia.

The subsequent conversation would actually show a softer Dream when compared to Cantu. It was like watching a Biden-Trump debate. No matter how correct Biden/Dream could act, you can’t beat rhetoric. You can’t beat the agenda. Dream called out Cantu for physically assaulting him, verballing abusing an Uber driver, and saying slurs. Cantu admitted to “slapboxing you front of the hoes” and “yes I was an asshole to the Uber driver I was wasted which is why I tipped him a lot of money” and “Hire a Harvard professor to calculate why despite texting every twitch streamer in Austin not a single one wanted to fuck you”. The last one is a reference to Dream supposedly hiring someone from Harvard to fake his stats in the speedrunning arc. Cantu is hitting hard and can’t be stopped. Dream replied with “not engaging with your bad faith ‘roasts'” before posting a series of dm screen shots that show Cantu’s softer side.

I guess Cantu kept going publicly anyways, as Dream would then drop a nuclear bomb. It was a weeks (misunderstood to be thought years) old video of Dream, some guy, and Cantu in an Uber car after some convention. Probably stupidcon or something haha. So in the video Cantu is already arguing with the driver about advice he doesn’t want to hear. The driver says about Cantu “you’re using all these bullshit excuses of why you’re still fucked up so you’re the type of person that need to bump your fucking head for you to learn”.

Still in the video, Cantu releases a rant to the driver. “I want to tell you right now. You are Austral Biligas Crow Magnum Rock fucking stupid. You’re retarded, you’re fucking down syndrome, I don’t give a fuck. You do not understand that your literacy level needs to be brought up from the fucking Mariana Trench and you have a fucking issue with your intelligence.”

Then Cantu says to Dream, “when the ants come at me, it’ll take 10 thousand 100 thousand of them to take me down. So that’s how minuscule you are to my size, right? My stature of intelligence, character, body, and reverence in the world. 1k is better for this pussy who doesn’t want to give away his millions. Are you Jewish?” That last part is probably a flash grenade because before anyone could respond, he continued with, “No man because I’m gonna do movies, stand up comedy, everything, all the shit, music, whatever the fuck, ecommerce. You don’t understand you’re talking to like a Michelangelo of my time, right? Like I’m a genius, Albert Einstein level, history book maker. You’re gonna be forgotten like the dust in the sand when you’re in the fucking Sahara and there’s hundred million thousand billion fucking sand particles. You are gonna be one of those and I’m gonna be a statue erected in gold. So understand.” And before Dream could really respond, he added, “and I am like this because I have ADHD, autism, neurodivergent” and then Dream agrees to having ADHD as well. Cantu finishes, “right but because you said ‘that’s what the MASK is’ I think you’re a faggot. All right? So that’s why. You’re really cool Dream, I still wanna fight you and all of the shit thats happened tonight, its not gonna make it a fucking like brutal marauder. I’m not gonna be a brutal marauder. I’m gonna like literally like…either you’re gonna be paralyzed or you’re going to be dead. Like I’m serious.”

Despite the yapping, throwing fag around, and being rude to a low class worker; because Cantu attacked Dream, the Nightmares absolutely promoted the shit out of this. Memes and animations would be made of Gumball fighting Dream’s avatar and the mocking of the “Mask” song would be played on repeat. Many spectators simply laughed on the side due to how hard hitting the video was. It was potentially posted by Dream to ruin Cantu’s career but it seemed to only make him relevant and give him supporters. After this was posted, his fans revealed he has been Minecrafting Youtuber Junky Janker for a few years much to people’s surprise. Nightmares also went out of their way to hate on Dream further for the video. They didn’t have to but they pointed out that Dream shouldn’t have been drinking with Cantu who is under 21 (dumb) and that it was weird for Dream to hold onto this potential blackmail (but it backfired).

For Dreamers, this video of course was potentially a call to start harassing Cantu although I didn’t see any of that. Too many people were making fun of Dream. They could call Cantu a homophobe (he is pan and didn’t say anything homophobic), antisemite (it was just a good debate tactic), and a narcissistic asshole (based but true) and it didn’t matter. He already considers them ants and the grooming agenda was maintained! It does not seem like Cantu wants a concerted effort against Dream but this video did more damage than any campaign would. So once again, “Bumbling Baboon”. He could’ve just screenshotted Cantu’s attack on his clone and made fun of him there. If he responds, log off cause he already looked kind of foolish then. But nobody has future sight. For now, not only was Dream a groomer but also a weakling and pussy. So this combos into the next episode in which Dream would have to defeat….the Allegations!

Dream vs the Allegations Part 2: On Dec 19, Dream released a video to address the truth of all things. I will preface that niche commentators penguinz0 and Vaush (who are old timey outsiders) consider the spaghetti of agendas surrounding Dream to be completely distrustful. There was more misinformation and propaganda about Dream then they had ever seen before. Vaush specifically points out that because the rumors and agenda are all made up by middle/high schoolers, it is as muddy as much as drama was back in those days. Do you remember how many teenagers have reported verified gossip? I so far have not even scratched the surface of claims made against him. So a video like this could help them and other spectators understand the dream of having a career.

1. The first agenda to demolish was this old picture of his which was the official seal of the State of Nightmares. It was a picture of a fat kid wearing an Orlando City soccer shirt which he would, at the time, not admit it was him. They used it constantly against him because they knew it was. It was him but the only reason he didn’t want to admit to it was because people used info in the photo to dox and swat him multiple times. It is also, according to him, not the fattest he has ever been, but he is proud of his own weight loss.
2. With the speedrunning, he admits he had argued fiercely against the officials before he would unfortunately come to learn that he was accidentally cheating. He was using a mod that minutely changed things and he was not aware of this. He apologizes for his attitude at the time.
3. Manatread was a childhood friend of Dream’s who would move in with him early in the career as he was homeless. Dream would create online accounts for Manatread which was just as anonymous as his. Now people came out with rumors that Manatread was a phsyical abuser, based on police reports, so Dream states that the man was kicked out of the house and his accounts were deleted since Dream made them. Nightmares have apparently used Dream housing Manatread as being an accessory to the criminal but according to Dream, it was the one secret the man kept from him.
4. The next point goes to the idea that he posts any thirst traps at all. Since face revealing, Dream believes he has just been learning how to take selfies and other random photos (for snapchat) and he doesn’t really feel that a good number of them are sexually suggestive to consider him a hoe. Secondly, most of his posts are posted by a social media manager and then reposted with suggestive captions by that Dream body double @dreamwastalen (Dream’s real twitter is @dreamwastaken). Dream does not know the body double, they are just a random roadie that usually spawns for any famous tweeter.
5. Then he addressed the one time he called his fanbase ‘kittens’ which he greatly regrets. He meant to say that he loves all of his fans platonically rather than in some weird kink sense. He also responds to the Dream flash drive wrist band he once sold which some people found weird because there were baby photos in it. He says that it was just a cute/embarrassing suggestion from his parents. Dream also doesn’t feel that his fanbase is that young (they act that young) due to his history of doing adult things, swearing (which I guess kids don’t like), and he mostly gets recognized by his peers; college aged adults. I understand but what do the Youtube metrics say? But more seriously, I wonder what is true considering even adult oriented content like South Park, Family Guy, and the entirety of Adult Swim have a loud minor fanbase. That’s up their parents of course, I guess.
6. Then he address the Anastasian allegation. Dream barely remembers this person but he did find dms of them casually talking to each other. He also argues he couldn’t have face revealed to them (since early in the video he admits to doing anything to stay anonymous).
7. Moving away, he addresses the conception that texting fans is weird and completely disagrees with it. Firstly, he’s defiantly a fully online person so he’d have to talk to somebody but pre-covid, he texted his fans more often since there was less of them and it was getting to know the community. Now he says he does it way less because there’s no way of talking to even 1 million people much less than 44 million. Dream also disagrees with the notion because having friends, even very loose, in the fandom can change lives as historically experienced.
8. Now for the Amanda allegation. Dream would uncover and read aloud most of the messages he found between the dms of him and the girl. Now from my opinion, VERY normal conversations. There would be times she asked for advice for streaming, she always started the conversations , and the busy youtuber usually replied very dryly and very late. Like weeks later at times. There was hardly a conversation between them but she was definitely interested in the boy. She would finally spark a conversation about music between the two and that would gain access to each other’s snapchats. They added snapchats notably one month before her majority birthday Jan 17, 2022. At this point, Dream would be 22 for all you age gap fans. Bro is a freshman fiend. For some reason, Amanda had claimed that the next three weeks, the two were just sexting each other casually although Dream points out (as known before) there is no evidence and he strongly rejects the claim. Even the shreds of ‘evidence’ she did post (where Dream supposedly called her sexy) are after the three week window when she would be a major. Dream decided to time travel in Snapchat and could not find any of the sheds of evidence. Amanda also made a claim that Dream asked to have sex with her when she was visiting Orlando (my city!). Considering this would be before the face reveal, Dream strongly rejects this with an interview with his mom about how much of a homebody he was. There a bunch of bullshit that she accused him of but I don’t care. It doesn’t exist as Dream continues to describe how physically impossible any of it is or how she seems to have never posted proof. Even with the going to the courts thing, Dream’s legal team went out of their way to seek if she filed anything against him in any police station and there was none. So, this is nothing.
9. He discusses his sadmaxxing mind set post face reveal as he decided to log off for the first time in forever. He had real life adventures and his music tours. He had his mishap with Quackity that he deeply apologizes for.
10. Then he discusses the Nicholas Cantu episode. He met the kid at a party but did not know him or want to get to know him, especially after Cantu randomly punched him in the face (in front of the hoes). On the Uber drive away, Cantu lost his phone via window and a police driver stopped by telling him it was too dangerous to look. So then the video comes from after that police interaction and Dream shows us a few more clips. The only reason that Cantu grilled Dream on the George Foreman was because he was defending the Uber driver but nobody could really get a handle on Gumball. The next day though, Cantu apologizes and Dream moves on. Then the twitter drama happens which is actually much deeper in the dms between those two and the third party that recorded the event. Really, it seems like Cantu was cartoonishly egging them on to post the video so Dream did. Then Dream invites the ole Uber driver, Terrell de Texas, to share his own experience in the video. Terrell finds Cantu for sure acting crazy, Dream to be a good deescalater, and some other stuff. Dream then shows us an unholy litany of Nightmare posting from after the video was posted. He was utterly shocked there were so many people that could misconstrue it and also use it as an oppurtunity to dox him (Idk this, crazy). [One thing I want to mention about this episode that I forgot to state before. People seemed to think Dream had held onto the video for a long time but the yapathon happened on Sept 23, this year. That’s like at most weeks of holding onto the video. I didn’t initially care to mention it cause a dude can hold a video infinitely, that’s how this technology works, but I want to clarify it as this chronicle should be accurate].
11. Dream goes on a rant about how bad doxxing is. It has to be only 15 year olds who need to hear this.
12. Dream then addresses the moaning allegation. I forgot about this because there was so much shit. The waters were so muddy. I do remember though that this cause #DreamDidWhat to go viral on Twitter for a few days. And I remember rumors of him sending moaning vids to fans but I am shellshocked that any of it was at all fabricated. It should just be a bit, idk. So one tweeter on a burner account accused Dream of moaning to a an underaged person named Jamie. Apparently Jamie received the message on snapchat. Dream rejects this. But he clarifies, Jamie is a real person that Dream first followed in his infancy where he was still adapting to the online community. Now, apart of the accusation, was the idea that Jamie quit the internet in 2020 although Dream reminds us her account is active albeit privated because she got so much attention from people. Dream used that as reasoning that they were lying about this and also everything else they faked/lied about because the evidence was lacking. As Dream continues detailing how false this accusation was, I am reminded about the Ai section and how people might use that technology to fake anything about anyone in the future. In the present. Cool, the beginning wrapped up into the end.
13. Dream then journeyed to Minniyappolis to talk about how bad spreading rumors and gossip is especially about pedophiliac allegations. Again, no adult should be learning from this section. In the middle of this yapanese, Dream decides to give cameos to xQc and Pokimane and made up fake evidence about them to show how easy it is to frame someone. Good to know, good to know.

Very funny conclusion here. In the wikitubia, the people there state the reactions to this Truth video from Dream were; “Many people refused to watch the video, citing that he was “yapping” or a “yapper”, responding to it with the “EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER” meme sound effect, commentating on it with the song “I Don’t Give a Shet” by Rai Panesar, or saying that his response was essentially the “Nuh Uh” meme….A large number of reactions to the response video were complete dismissals of the contents, usually attached with a meme saying Dream is a pedophile, a groomer, a “kiddy diddler”, or exclusively attracted to girls under sixteen.”

I didn’t pay attention to any reactions but I will say this is a very nice, clear, message from him not caught up in the usual bumbking nature he is used to on Twitter. He says he will even give up twitter (yippie!) and will just let a promoter promote shit. So that counts as a character arc. Now that you know, hopefully you can also push the “Dream likes miners” agenda rather than the evil one. Don’t make his career a living nightmare.
