Luxembourg v Anjou

-okay this is the other half of the final chapter with all the cool fights. I do wanna make every onscreen fight of this series unique, trying to never repeat the last but eh. The power system will have to be expanded…

-also in these fights I will finish cementing the foundation of themes for this story. Well, a couple of them.

Fraternal Synchronization

The Anjou were not truly invited into Hungary after the Arpads died out. Only due to his grandmother’s claim to the throne was he invited by some Croats. And even then, Karlo Robert Anjou had to deal with a dozen different lords who had decided to decentralize the Hungarian government in a period known as the Oligarchy. So then, Tamas Szecsenyi would be one of the handful of allies Karlo found himself. Finally, Karlo would become the undisputed king in 1308 and reform Hungary closer to a Francian kingdom. The new legal policies would be continued by his son Lajos with Tamas’ son Konya remaining an allied Croat lord. Konya then had three sons, Frank (now 32 years), Miklos (who died just before the Poland campaign), and Simon (now 27). Konya was dead as well so Frank was head of the family, owner of the Hollókő Castle. Here they are, allying the new king.

Garai landed just outside of the hole that Wenzel threw him up through. With telekinesis, Simon pulled him onto a couch. “Watch out,” he said as Frank charged forward with a sword.

“Attacking alone?” Marzano asked. He and Montalto charged together with their spears. Frank shorthopped over the hole and then slide toward the attackers. As he dropped, they would be surprised to immediately see Simon in the air pouncing on them as well. Simon gave a wide swing with his sword that they had to stop and block with their spears. Frank kept sliding by chopping at their legs and then he stood up after. They cringed in pain and the two turned their backs on the Napoli on either side of them. They seemed to clean their swords by swinging them in the air. Garai was impressed. But it was just a small incision on their legs. They gritted their teeth and targeted Frank side by side for a quick kill. Simon did a backflip over their heads and swung downward as Frank blocked their blades. The two quickly deflected Simon’s attack but he used their force to stay midair. Then, Frank swerved to the right and left two stab wounds on Montalto. Simon then jumped off Marzano’s back sending his face to the floor. The two turned their back towards their enemies again, holding hands.

Merde,” Montalto said, clutching his side, “we’ll need to coordinate better. Their agility is something else.”

Marzano wiped his reddened face, “Nothing a little slime can’t fix,” and he tossed a potion toward the floor. With Flammo, he cooked the contents inside. Then the glass carrying the potion shattered on the floor spreading a barely visible gas. The Napoli jumped back and covered their noses. Garai did the same. Slug slime is an ingredient in a slowness potion, due to the slug’s property of slowness. A potion as a gas is less potent but could be consumed by anyone breathing it until it is filtered by natural wind. The brothers stood there breathing it all in. The Napoli waited until Marzano said, “well that should be enough time to not affect us, especially with the hole in the ceiling. We will have a 2 minute advantage of speed!”

“Yes, with full coordination!”

They leapt in the air turning on their side. Then they jumped off each other’s feet and bounced to the walls. They bounced back at the middle of the room, bounced off each other’s feet again, and bounced back to the walls closer to the brothers. Garai was amazed. They bounced off the walls one last time to skewer the brothers between them. They Szecsenyi disappeared. Frank duck below and Simon jumped above. They moved in slow motion nonetheless but they had started moving early enough that the motion was completed. Montalto and Marzano were flying in the air, not hitting a thing in shock. And then, Simon already made the motion to cut across Montalto’s back. In the same way, Frank made the motion to cut across Marzano’s stomach. The Napoli crashed to the ground on either side. The Brothers stood next to each other holding their swords toward each other.

“What the hell? It didn’t ruin their agility?” Marzano asked.

Montalto said, “there is something else. It’s like they predicted us anyway.”

The Brothers then poured potions into each other’s mouths. “They’re gonna cancel out the slow with speed…” Marzano realized.

“Then we’ll use the spell the king entrusted with us.”

Equipping their grimoire, they reminded themselves of the magic. They fired “étinceller” at the brothers. It was a unique spell from the Capetian House, sending multiple sparks of magic from each finger that fall slowly and engulf the area with flames. Garai’s jaw dropped seeing the fire suddenly erupt. Then he gasped as he spotted the next thing.

“We did it! They burned immediately!”

“What great honor we have bestowed upon us.”

Frank grabbed Montalto’s back from behind. Simon grabbed Marzano’s back from behind. They said, in unison, “it was not any lack of coordination but instead what you needed was synchronization.” They had pushed each other at the same time with the same force so they’d end up behind each Napoli. The Napoli turned around swinging their spears. The brothers blocked their various attacks and attacked casually, pushing the Napoli back and back until they were against the flames. Then, at the same time, the brothers slashed through the spears breaking them and in the same movement, turned to kick them into the flames. Montalto pushed Marzano down to find his footing to jump out of the flames. Marzano shouted, “no honor!” as his back hit the ground and his body was consumed by flames. The brothers then poured a flame potion, which of course includes oil, over Marzano completely cooking him.

Montalto aimed his arm back, readying himself to fire the spell again. But the brothers were already behind him. “But maybe you also lacked some coordination to betray him like that,” they said in his ears. Next, they hacked and slashed at his body, going around him to make sure to cut every part of his flesh like a blender. To finish, they split him in four with Frank going down horizontally at the waist and Simon cutting vertically from the head to the balls. The corpse fell apart and the two swung their swords in the air to clean off the blood.

Garai clapped his hands as they posed, “wow, just about the most dangerous brother’s I’ve ever seen. You guys are crazy!” They simply nodded with a smile.
