Emilia stood at the edge of the sidewalk. Her family had dropped her there about two minutes ago and yet she hasn’t moved. How long have I been standing here? I wish I could tell her but since we are observers, I can only tell you that it’s been two minutes. Now look at Emilia clench her fists. Her snow-pale hands are becoming pinker than her nose. Her bobcut black hair alone swayed due to the wind. I have never seen anyone survive the Predicament she is in. She stood at, let’s see, 5’5″ and I heard she’s quite proud of it. She wore a gothic outfit consisting of a black baggy hoodie and grey sweatpants. She had dark green eyes and her black bags surrounding her. Horrible, embarrassing, and downright boring. She has been staring her ex boyfriend but I’m bored of this. You bored of this? You can’t answer, we’ll just leave.
Emilia was dropped off at Texcoco College, nothing to do with the Mexican lake. It was in a valley, completely surrounded by forests which sat on an elevation about 20 feet higher than the valley. The valley had a small pond in the south which let into a tiny stream to the ocean miles away. All of the surrounding trees were conifer allowing for many pinecones to scatter throughout the valley. Now the valley was treeless. It used to be a swampy grassland and now it’s just grass. The valley is about 5 square miles but in the shape of an oval. The college built here is just a series of rectangular buildings, some longer than others and some more cubic. The largest were three stories tall. They were white marble and topped with red shingles most of the time.
There’s one road that loops into the valley from the right of the stream. It dips in making a crescent on the campus. Then it comes back out on the other side of the stream, completely separated from the first road. They combine later on. At the top of road though, there was a motorcycle stalling by a tree. A human suddenly dashed out of a forest but came to a stop before the cycle. This person, Xiley, had brown ruffled hair and wore a large black duster jacket. It was quite long considering their 5’5″ height. They had to carefully sit on the bike so the jacket did not get caught on anything. Their fingerless gloves tightly wrapped around the handles. If they just found this bike though, why was the engine already turned on?
Xiley removed an earpiece from an ear and placed it in their jacket pocket. Then they reached into another pocket and took out a metal piece which could be unfolded into a helmet. They placed this one their head. They heard heavy footsteps approach. Jumping out of the woods were three men in full black battle suits. They shouted, “Get him!”
Xiley smiled at the mirror, showing them their flashing teeth. Then they accelerated onto the road. They should have checked, there was another student just arriving to campus in a high standing jeep. The Jeep collided into Xiley and their bike. It hit them so hard they rose into the air, their cycle spinning round and round. “What an idiot,” the jeep driver said to their bros in the other seats. They laughed it off and cheered as a banging song came onto the radio. Turning upon the radio, their music invaded the valley.
High in the air, Xiley tried to find a balance. They would meteor towards the earth regardless of their efforts. One of the three men took out a rocket launcher and fired it at Xiley’s back. Boom! Xiley was currently fine but their bike was destroyed. In the next minute, he bounced off the roof of the jeep and then rolled on the ground. This finally took Emilia out of her freeze. She shuddered as her body replayed the fact that Xiley smashed the ground with great speed. She turned around to the Jeep which had its doors slammed open by the boys inside. Five boys stomped over her to make their way to Xiley. The driver, Tyson, picked Xiley up by the duster.
“Fuckface, what the fuck is your problem with my car?”
They were all athletes considering their size and body shape. The black one, Jerry, picked up Emilia by her hoodie. Jerry had short curly hair and a fit build. “Damn, idiot, get out of the way when we’re coming by.”
“Let me go, I have to hide from my ex. You’re gonna embarrass me if he sees you holding me!”
Jerry’s face turned into a shit eating grin. He looked over at his Hispanic friend, “bro a boyfriend.”
“An ex,” Maximo, or just Max, replied.
“I wanna meet him. You’re a freshman right? Let’s fucking go.”
“NO WAY! At least put me me down.” She started to frame her face with her hands. Only Jerry could see her face as the periphery was blocked.
“I’m holding you 3 inches off the ground, chill out. Point me to your boyfriend.”
“Can’t really help you,” Max said to her, “once Jerry’s interested in something, he’s very interested. And I usually find it interesting too, he’s a G like that.”
“Yeah, listen, it’s not like we’re going to rape you. I just wanna meet the dude dating a goth chic. And he’s made you scared enough to even see him? I’M INTERESTED. If I put you down, you won’t run away, right?”
“I don’t know, how fast are you?”
“I’m the running back.”
Alan, the tallest of the group, interrupted Jerry. He said, “hey, we’re taking Mr. Biker boy to our crib. You wanna take her too?”
“Why must we do this?” asked Ravi. The shortest of the group, standing at 5’10”.
The giant redhead Chris answered, “We got questions they need answering. Fucking freshmen, amiright?”
Tyson added, “Bro is paying for my car. I don’t care if he’s not awake right now. He still breathing, he got some money to fork over.” Tyson tossed Xiley’s body on the floor in the back of his car.
Emilia nervously looked over to her ex again. He was making out with two women just before the statue of the school’s mascot. The mascot is a Feathered Dragon inspired by the Quetzalcoatl so it had all sort of vibrant tropical colors from orange to green. David held one woman in each arm and they took turns swapping tongue with him.
“What a monster, I understand your fear,” Jerry said following her line of sight. “Maxie, grab her bags, we’ll take her too.”
“Wha- actually?” Emilia asked. “You’ll get in trouble. I’ll call the police.”
“Why, you’re just hanging out with us?” then he tossed her into the back and Max piled her bags on top of her. Ravi rolled his eyes but climbed into the car the same as the rest of the boys. They quietly left as no one noticed what they did. From the top of the road though, the three army men were watching via binoculars. They looked at each other and silently agreed on following.
As for David, he took a tiny break from kissing his women. We both said we’d be at this school but there’s almost 3000 students here so I am very much surprised we saw each other on the first day. Why didn’t you come say hi? I said we could be friends. It’s your fault your heart is broken. After having these thoughts, he immediately went backing to kissing his two women.
There were dorms spread in between the educational and other buildings. The boys took a right off the main road to enter a parking garage. There was about five throughout the campus at prime points. The campus is supposed to be walkable so having a car is kind of unnecessary. They went to the second floor and parked at the first open spot. As decided by Nose Goes, Chris and Max were forced to carry Emilia and Xiley. They left Emilia’s stuff in the car. They went down the elevator and walked about five minutes to one of the small houses. It was blue and had a front balcony.
Alan fumbled the keys a bit before he was able to open the door. Jerry smacked his ass, “bro hurry, I’m hungry.”
Once they made it inside, Jerry jumped into the refrigerator. The captives were taken to the open kitchen. Alan slid open the closet door and the captives were thrown inside. Alan then slammed the door closed and locked it. Max opened the refrigerator door allowing Jerry to roll out with several fruits in his mouth and a bottle of vodka in each hand. “I hate you,” Max said.
Ravi, Chris, and Alan collapsed on the couch. “So how are we committing a petty crime today?” Ravi asked jokingly.
“Quick. I got Econ in 20 minutes,” Chris said.
“Oh, she texted back,” Alan said checking his phone.
“Phoebe?” Chris asked.
“Yeah, whoever we met at the cliffs.”
“Good for you.”
Jerry jumped onto the couch, crashing into Alan. They separated after insulting each other. Alan went to sit on the recliner. Max took a stool from the kitchen and sat across a small table from the couch.
Jerry asked, “you smashing?”
Alan shook his head, “I’m good.”
“Pass her over. What she say? What she even look like?”
“Yeah, you spent the whole night jumping off the cliff, you didn’t meet anyone,” Ravi said.
“Ravi, you met someone?”
“Yeah, people for Dungeons and Dragons.”
“Way too many types of people at those cliffs then,” Jerry concluded.
Alan then passed his phone over to Jerry, “this what she look like.”
“GATDAMN SHE SENT A NUDE!”
Ravi and Max both rose. Ravi shouted, “bro was that the text!?”
“Yeah,” Alan answered almost completely uninterested.
“That’s not a text! That’s a nude!”
“She looking about 6 foot,” Jerry said.
“She was tall I think.”
“Her folds look sweet bro.”
“Yo Jerry, chill out, you’re gonna get hard,” Max warned. Max walked over to see the nude.
Phoebe took the picture in front of a mirror in which she was squatting with her legs spread. She had long curly blonde hair and wore thick rimmed glasses. Her skin was fair the whole way, no tan lines. Max said, “ah she’s a rockstar.”
“So, Alan, we good to take turns on her?” Jerry asked.
“Morally? No.”
Ravi said, “yeah, what the fuck? How about finders keepers?”
“I’ll find her. And then Max can keep her.”
“Thanks brother.”
“Love you brother.”
“Fuck you both,” Ravi said.
They continued talking about that last weekend of summer break. They had visited the nearby waterfall where many college students in the region gather for cliff jumping. They jumped into the water below of course.
While they talked, those inside the closet also related with each other. Emilia, at first, was looking for her phone but it had already been dropped in the car. I’ve got to get out of here!
Emilia was sitting across the empty closet from Xiley. They were unconscious. It was not well lit in there but for some reason, they looked a bit familiar to her. She gently kicked them. They dramatically opened their eyes. She loudly whispered, “David!?!”
“Xiley.” Then they loudly groaned in pain and coughed twice, “why the fuck am I in so much pain?”
“Oh wait, aren’t you the kid who fell from the sky? That’s who they picked up I think.”
“They? Not the hunters, right?”
“How are you ALIVE? And no, just some stupid footballers.”
“I cannot feel a thing to be honest with you. Yet I must still escape.”
“From the hunters? Spooky.”
“I have walked in darkness and continue to escape into further darkness. I must leave.”
Emilia looked to her left and right. What is he talking about? “I’m Emilia but we definitely need to go. My first class is at 10:30 and we need to move into our dorms by the end of the day or they’ll go to the people on the waitlist!”
“Yes, a dorm, of course.”
“I hope these idiots let us out,” she finished her sentence by slamming the door.
Tyson stepped out of his bedroom and shoved Maximo off of his stool. Then he went to the closet, snatched Xiley, slammed the closet door, and sat Xiley on the stool. Xiley held their hands behind their back as if they were being tied down. Max sat on the side of the couch. Tyson punched Xiley heavy in the face and then held their shoulders to keep them steady.
“Paying for my car!?”
“You’re a mad man. Are the rest of you going to stop him?” Xiley asked without taking a breath.
Jerry answered, “the man’s poor, that car costs him a relative fortune. The last guy who didn’t pay died.”
“I understand,” Xiley said.
“Then don’t break yourself, just pay him,” Chris suggested.
“I understand the struggle society has put you under, forcing you to hurt a fellow student for unintentionally falling on your car.”
Tyson backed up. His confusion defeated his anger. Ravi asked, “bro are you LARPing?”
“I’m not your bro.”
“Well you’re not literally related to my mom but as a fellow guy, you’re a brother.”
“But I’m not a guy. I’m not a girl either.”
Jerry spit out a grape, “youse nonbiney?”
Xiley nodded. Max asked, “what you want us to call you then? Nigga?” Xiley shrugged.
“Are you gonna pay for my car?” Tyson asked. “I know a good mechanic so it might not be too much. But I have to keep it perfect, my parents are paying all the insurance.”
“He also the only one wit a car,” Jerry admitted.
“Yeah we need it to hang with the hoes,” Max said.
Xiley shook his head and said, “I just escaped jail and I’m on the run. I literally have only pocket change.”
“What the fuck?”
“At least give him that,” Jerry said.
“The duster’s cool too. Give him that,” Max said.
“Y’all gotta stop feening,” Chris said.
“Duster’s mine,” Xiley said. He tossed 40 dollars on the ground.
Tyson shrugged and picked it up. Ravi joked, “yeah, keep the duster on them, it fits their character, I’m guessing.”
“Yo’ it’d look like a cute little crop top on Alan though.” Alan smiled at Jerry’s comment but shook his head.
Then they heard three knocks on the door. Chris asked, “who the fuck?”
Xiley realized, if they aren’t expecting someone then…! “Fellows, do not open that door.”
“Kinda wanna open it now,” Jerry said.
“No, don’t. That’s the light that is after me.”
“I’ll open it, doesn’t matter who. I gotta get to class anyway,” Chris said rising.
He grabbed the keys off the kitchen counter and then made his way to the door. Xiley looked around for exits. Before Chris opened the door, Alan stomped his foot. Chris turned around.
“Maybe we should open a different door.” There was a quiet moment as they waited for his elaboration. “I want…to open my closet door.”
“Go ahead, it’s just a bitch in there,” Jerry said gesturing to Emilia.
“No,” Alan continued. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes. “Since you guys didn’t react to this non-biney, I want to come out. As gay.”
“Oh. Didn’t mean to call you a bitch.”
Max asked, “Hold on, so when you go on xvideos, you look at porn of-“
“Men. I like men.”
Max then said, “Oh shit. So I was right. Remember you guys said bullshit to my theory that we got more touchy after Alan joined our house?” Ravi shrugged.
“You guys were already touchy?” Xiley asked.
“Yeah, we love each other, the fuck?”
Tyson put his hand on Alan’s shoulder. “Why the fuck did you hide that from us?”
“I wasn’t hiding it from you guys specifically. Just everyone. I didn’t know how to be comfortable with it.”
There was a quiet moment here. Chris wondered about all the previous moments with Alan. Ravi felt a bit relived he didn’t have to quietly assume anymore. Emilia was fangirling for some reason.
Then Jerry broke the silence, “Hmm, but 6’8″ and skinny as hell, how long is that dick boy?” Tyson, Ravi, Alan, Max, and Chris broke into laughter after trying to hold it back. “Ayo, what’s so funny? That’s a genuine question.” Jerry sat next to Alan and put his arm around him, “how much dick you sucking on the side?”
“Haha, no I’ve sucked like two dicks only. I’m still basically a virgin anyway.”
“Damn, we’ll find you some penis. You keep sending the Phoebe types my way though.”
“Jerry, chill the fuck out,” Ravi said.
The knocks on the door returned. “Yeah yeah,” Chris said. He opened the door and then the agent there electrocuted him unconscious with a taser.
Without missing a beat, Xiley dashed into Tyson’s bedroom and jumped out the window. They landed horribly on the backyard porch. Behind were other houses separated by grass but connected by walkways. The grass was still tall from summertime growth. Xiley dived into it and began to slowly crawl. There’s only three but there were too many exits. I could have gone up the chimney. Luck me. Now to find a dorm to stay hide. I must heal…
The hunters spent twenty minutes searching through the place despite the boys promising them that Xiley had ran. In this search, they found Emilia so this made them more suspicious that Xiley was still hiding. Chris woke up, punched one, and tossed the other two into backyard. “Alright, see y’all after class,” he said leaving, the keys clicking in his hands.
“I’ll go with him, I want to get some food to eat,” Alan said.
“I’ll also need to go to the mechanic. I wonder if we will ever meet that kid again,” Tyson said.
So Tyson and Alan followed Chris. The others rearranged the furniture close to what it was like before. Then Jerry took Emilia out of the closet and sat her on the stool. Only he and Max sat before her as Ravi took a shower. It would be a good excuse to not be an accomplice.
“So…who was your ex?” Jerry asked.
“No, he was her boyfriend. Now he’s her ex,” Max corrected.
“Oh. Shit. Yeah, who was your boyfriend?”
“Koff.”
“Koff?”
“Yeah, fuck off.”
“Oh lmao, but no I won’t.”
“I need to get to my dorm and to my class. What time is it!?”
“It’s just 10:15,” Max said.
“See! I only have 15 minutes!” Jerry broke into a laughter. “Why are you laughing?”
“All your stuff’s in the car they just took. They gon drop off Chris 15 minutes late to his class and then hit up the Wendy’s before escaping the valley to the outskirts for a mechanic. Just give up and let’s talk.”
“Kill me,” she whispered. “Okay, David was my boyfriend in my senior year and we were both heading to this college. But some really personal stuff happened and so now I find him disgusting. I don’t even want to see him. So leave me and him alone.”
Max said, “nah Jerry’s gonna do some bull like put you back together.”
Jerry shouted, “I like that! Let’s run that.”
“Hmm wait, which direction did Xiley run to?”
“The non-biney? That way,” Jerry pointed. He turned to point, as Emilia hoped. She then dashed the opposite way to the front door. They did not notice in time so she was able to slam the door in their faces as they tried to catch her. Then she ran down the walkways to the garage. As it turns out, Alan and Tyson were talking to some girls as they slowly made their way to the garage.
Emilia ran past them with her hoodie up. It had no discernable features so she just looked like a regular hooded kid running past them. To them though, they never saw her anyways. Okay! I just need to find the building with Econ classes! He probably parked at the garage there and that’s where I’ll find the car. But I should just go to class right? I don’t even know if it’s 15 minutes away. But I guess it’s just syllabus day, right? Oh God….
In the house, Jerry told Max, “actually it’s important we don’t chase her. We have to be under the alibi that we were just hanging out so it doesn’t look like a kidnapping.”
“Right. Maybe her class will let her forget all about us since she was so worried about it.”
“Yeah yeah, let’s chill out. We don’t got class till noon.”
The campus was very spread out so every class was in a specific building. Of course, not knowing the layout, Emilia realized she could ask a fellow student or staff member. In the geographic center of the campus was a pyramid like building, rising to three stories. White stone and windows. It hosted a general lounge on the bottom floor. Included was a computer room, library, closed off sound rooms, a snack bar, and plenty of seats to just hang out. The second floor was a series of offices for the staff while the top floor was the dean’s office and record keeping room.
Emilia dashed across the street and made her way into the pyramid. She stopped for a moment to look around. Everyone turned to face her. She quickly turned around her tomato red face and walked out. Ah fuck, now what do I do? There has to be a directory in there. She looked at her shaking hands. She was huffing heavily. I know I don’t exercise but jeez. She did take a while to get here but let’s move to the point where she caught her breath. At this point, she took off her hoodie revealing a black tank top. Her huge rack was shown as well causing a passerby to whistle. She did not really hear him since she was focused on tying the jacket around her waist. Then she took out two hair ties and made pigtails of her hair. Okay, I look different now! I’ll even use a different entrance. She did all that to not be recognized.
Emilia walked casually around the corner and now entered the building calmly. She nonchalantly looked around for an approachable person or map as she walked through. In her periphery, she caught Xiley walking through a door. She quickened her pace but walked the perimeter of the room to not be noticed. She tried the same door but it was looked. She noticed a keycard machine next to the door, wait I need like a teacher’s key. How’d he get past this? I hope nobody saw-
Xiley then opened the door which surprised her into another mental shutdown. They raised their eyebrow. “You wanted to come up?”
“Yes,” she whispered. So she went past the door way and they closed the door. Then she stopped at the first step of the staircase. “Wait, no! Why are you here?”
“You don’t have to whisper. I need to find their database.”
“Of the…college?”
“Yes, I forgot what dorm I was in so the lady here opened the door so I could go up and look.”
Emilia narrowed her eyes. They were using all of their strength to stand. She mentally complimented this strength. “Are you being for real?” Xiley shrugged. “I mean, I don’t care if you’re an ex-con. I need to get to class like in five minutes or something.”
“Then let’s start going up,” Xiley said.
“Okay.” Xiley leaned heavily on the railing but kept a quick pace while going up the stairs. I wonder if a teacher will catch us on these stairs, Emilia thought. Xiley continued to say, “when you enter from the other door, you brought enough attention to yourself that I could steal the card key of the librarian. Or whoever she is. I assume that this is the nucleus and it will have dorm information. I need a dorm to sleep, heal, and hide in.”
“I don’t know friendo, there’s like thousands of students here. It was like winning the lottery to get a dorm on campus. There’s still a desperate waitlist I heard about. And then who’s gonna be weird enough to accept you to just hide there?”
“If there’s a list of names on the dorms; I can research who that person is online. Despite Internet safety classes in elementary school, I realize our generation still use their real full names for at least one social media, usually for professional purposes. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the most used social medias for real life people. If you don’t have an account there, even a defunct, you don’t exist in real life. I’ll check their accounts on any of the three and assume a safe home.”
This dude is absolutely mad. “How old are you? I remember my Internet safety classes. Actually, looking back, it’s so funny cause how big Instagram got in my middle school. Like everyone had to have it, even me. But I mostly went on Tumblr.”
“Real life people don’t exist on Reddit or Tumblr. You’re an online person. You didn’t have friends.”
“Uh…damn.”
“I’m 18.”
Good save? “That’s funny actually! I am too. You could blend in as a freshman.”
“That’s the plan.”
Emilia thought, you know, I’ve sometimes heard about feeling jealous for famous actors who are younger but much more successful than you, but they’re my age and already extremely criminal.
“Don’t think my plan is something covert or extreme. This is the basic use of social media. That’s what the Internet safety classes were for, to prevent ease of invasion. Not our fault but the boomers and millennials who designed the sites.”
“I gotch ya, I am not gonna stop you anyways.”
They went up to the third floor silently. There was another card reader at this door. The card Xiley stole did not work here. “Fuck,” they stated.
Emilia then asked, “Oh uh, can you like pick a lock I guess?”
“Better,” Xiley said. They took out a blowtorch and started to burn the door.
“What the fuck?”
A little over two minutes later, Xiley had burned around the doorknob thus allowing it to fall out. They walked through. Lucky for them, the dean was currently patrolling the campus and not even his secretary was up here. They walked through the secretary’s room and burned the next door to enter the dean’s office. Emilia, afraid of any security cameras, once again put her hands to the sides of her face blocking her own periphery view but also her face. Entering the dean’s office, Xiley spotted another regular door that said ‘Record Keeping’.
Xiley went there. Just a turn of the knob to enter the closet. There were walls on either side full of cabinets. Let’s see, dorms dorms dorms…
Emilia twirled around in the office. She stopped to see a map of the campus that was originally behind her. YES! Econ is…. The campus is cut into quarters generally speaking. There is the science quarter, liberal quarter, technical quarter, and miscellaneous quarter (which holds many but not all of the athletics stuff). Economics would be in the science quarter within the aptly named economics building. Okay so it’s just that way. I’m gonna be late to class but at least I’ll get there.
Emilia, five minutes later, was in the economics building. She left Xiley behind as they asked her to. There were only two auditorium style classrooms on the first floor while the second floor had regular class rooms. She blocked her face as she moved down the hall. Please God, don’t let anyone see me. She checked the window of each room hoping to spot his red hair. She saw him in the second auditorium. He was on the same side as her door but she’d have to pass by where the professor was lecturing. At least I don’t look like myself. Then a lightbulb lit in her head. She took out her black lipstick and made a mess of her lips. Then she knocked on the door and waited a polite moment before opening the door. She immediately blocked her face and squeaked out, “excuse me”. Emilia then took long and quick steps to Chris. Chris noticed, Oh that’s the one Jerry stole. Did he know if she was bountiful? But it was when she got close that he got a good look at her face. Tears were at the seams of her eyelids. He felt a good bit of shame also realizing she was going to talk to him.
Emilia asked, “c-can I bororororrow the car k-keys?? I messy.”
“God Almighty. Yeah. Give it to the two idiots outside,” Chris responded under his breath.
Chris dumped the key in her hands and she dashed out as quickly on possible. As she left though, a student stood up and shouted, “Chris has a freshman girlfriend!?” causing the class to fall into a ruckus. Chris held back an angry face. Emilia collapsed outside the building, heaving and sweaty like she escaped a sauna. Oh boy!
A couple minutes later, she made it to the nearby garage. It was on the second floor again. She recognized the Jeep instantly. In the next couple of minutes, she was able to retrieve all of her stuff. She closed the doors and put on the two duffle bags. She had two other suitcases ready to be dragged. Emilia was about to go until she spotted Alan and Tyson.
“Oh you’re the girl he gave the keys to, give them back,” Tyson demanded.
“Chilllll Tyson,” Alan advised.
“Here,” Emilia said tossing them over. “Please don’t recognize me anymore. This morning never happened.”
“Well you changed your look from when we stepped on you so that’s totally possible,” Tyson pointed out. She laughed at this.
“And it’s only your first day so this should be pretty forgettable,” Alan stated.
“It gets worse?” she asked.
“It all depends on what you do the first year.”
Tyson added, “school is as fun or dramatic as you make it. There are those who can’t enjoy the atmosphere and find those that do are ‘peaking’. But even if you have a bad day today, tomorrow is a new day.”
Emilia nodded, slightly blushing. They walked past each other, the boys going into the car and the girl heading to the elevator. Kinda hope I meet them again. They were too cool to meet once, kind of. I can’t be their friends though…can’t I? It’s just college.
Emilia finally arrived at her dorm. She was staying in an apartment building rather than a house. It was all girls as these are gendered. She went to the first floor, down to the end of the hall, to the right, and the second to last room. She opened the door to a kitchen. Walking past a little entry way led to the living room which just had a few folded chairs and a table. Turning right again, she entered the bedroom. She and her roommate had already agreed they would be sharing a king sized bed. They met once before of course.
Lynda was bigger than Emilia. She had fairer skin and straight black hair. She was half Japanese, half English. Her glasses were on the floor. She slept in a onesie without the blanket.
Emilia poked her cheeks. Lynda calmly opened her eyes. “EMILIA!”
“LYNDA!”
“LET’S GOOOOOO!”
As they reunited, another boy would come across Xiley. This boy, Ethan, had short brown hair and wore thin rimmed glasses. He choose a 9 am class to start his day for some insane reason. So it was only now he was returning to his room before heading to his 11 am class. Ethan stands at 5’10”, has a thin build, and quite hairy limbs. He wore a plain shirt and sweat pants. He was a freshman.
Ethan came into his dorm like normal. He was supposed to have a dormmate but they seemed to have cancelled last minute. He would be assigned a new one tomorrow. But for now, he stepped to his bedroom closest and opened the door. Standing there very menacingly was Xiley. “Uh, hey,” Ethan said.
“Are you not surprised?”
“I gotta get to calculus bro.”
“I’m not a brother. I’m nonbinary. You can call me nigga.”
“I won’t.”
Xiley then raised their fists. They opened them to show a blue pill and a red pill. “Choose.”
“Did you break into my dorm to do a Matrix reference?”
“Choose.”
“Which does what?”
“Blue, I don’t explain a thing. Red, I do.”
“These are my tictacs bro,” Ethan said grabbing both.
“I am an ex-convict. There are three men still on the hunt for me but I evaded them in my journey of reaching this dorm. My bones are shattered. You will let me heal here for an undetermined amount of time. I will not bother you.”
“Yeah, this is a lot worse than an alien or Morpheus.” Xiley closed the door. “Can you at least give me a sweater?” Xiley opened the door just a bit to hand Ethan a sweater. Ethan took it and walked away muttering to myself, “on the first day a freaking gang recruited me and there’s three women who basically confessed their love and now a freak in a duster is ‘healing’ in my closet. God I hate college.”
